VAC launches new ELECTRONIC version of the Asthma Action Plan!
VAC's written asthma action plan is a written plan worked out with the patient and their health care provider that defines what a patient should do if they are faced with an oncoming asthma attack. In collaboration with CINCH (Consortium for Infant and Child Health), the asthma action plan was created in detail to include peak flow zones and instructions of what actions the patient should take if they develop increased symptoms. The asthma action plan also includes increasing inhaler use when symptoms warrant it, instructions as to when to go to the emergency room, when to go to the hospital, and when to call 911. Along with the NAEPP (National Asthma Education and Prevention Plan) and Virginia Schools, we strongly recommend all patients with asthma have a written asthma action plan as it is vital part of a patient's asthma care.
