About VAC
The Virginia Asthma Coalition was created in 1998 through collaboration between the Virginia Department of Health, the American Lung Association of Virginia, and the Virginia Department of Education. Through 2010 VAC was funded by CDC grants that were distributed to local coalitions around the state to meet our organizational goals. Currently, the VAC is in the process of becoming a 501C3 organization to insure its long term viability. The VAC is run by the Board of Directors which includes our executive committee (President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer). Our work teams provide the impetus for much of our activity (see work teams. VAC provides a forum for people to exchange ideas on ways to improve the quality of asthma care in Virginia. VAC members include physicians, nurses, parents, health care providers, governmental agencies, respiratory therapists, and others who are concerned about controlling asthma throughout the Commonwealth.
Mission: The VAC is a statewide partnership to enhance the quality of life for Virginians affected by asthma.
